19th Bahamas Girl Guides
The 19th Bahamas Girl Guides was started in the late 1960ís by Mrs. Ruby Pestaina. Mrs. Beryl Higgs later started the 19th Bahamas Ranger Guides. Mrs. Iris Knowles followed as the next Guide leader and she was then followed by Mrs. Carlotta Klass.
In 1998, Mrs. Nicki Dawkins and Mrs. Elizabeth Burrows became the leaders of the 19th Bahamas Girl Guides. Both ladies along with Ms. Donna Darville, who is a Guide leader, all participated in the 19th Bahamas Brownie/Guides/Rangers under Mrs. Pestaina, Reverend Higgs and Mrs. Knowles.
The Mission of the 19th Bahamas Girl Guides and Rangers is to enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world, using the 8-point programme of the Bahamas Girl Guide Association.
Meeting time for the Girl Guides and Rangers is Monday from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
